This is the best wiki I have seen for the game, so use this if you want to play!
Realm grinder has such a nostalgic vibe to it while showing modern algorithms and ideas within it. I have played no game that has even reached somewhere near its complexity, and if it does then it's seriously boring, not well made, or requires mods.
The thing is the only thing that makes it a true game is that you get to choose what you want to do. Do you want to not join mercenaries? Do you want to do an elven bloodline? Do you want to do dwarven or unique buildings? What do you want in your merc build, what do you want in your research tab. So many possibilities make endless gameplay with a variety of constant well made updates and bug fixes.
Take super mario odyssey, a game I considered to be one of the best of the best is currently not being played by me, due to the amount of focus I have towards realm grinder. There is a lot of tasks to do.
