Overview: After excavating the quest artifact "Spiky Rough Egg", Dragon unlock is divided into 4 parts commonly referred to as "Stages". Each stages come with a compulsory unskippable 12 hours wait, meaning that Dragon unlock is guaranteed to last at least 2 days in real time.

Spiky Rough Egg Artifact

Description: What a weird egg... it looks ages old, yet something alive is inside. Perhaps if you wait long enough, something will hatch?

Requirement: R46+, 1500+ Excavations

Chance: 2%

Hatch!

Description: After waiting for a while... hatch the spiky egg and reveal what's inside!

Requirement: Spiky Rough Egg, 12 hours since obtaining the quest artifact

Cost: 1e64 (10 Vg), 1e7 (10 M) each Faction Coin

Effect: Hatches the Egg.

Drakeling

Description: The baby dragon needs to learn how to breathe flames first... perhaps a fair amount of Hellfire Blasts will help. Once it is ready, grow your baby dragon into a drakeling.

Requirement: Hatch!, 12 hours of active Hellfire Blast since purchasing the previous stage.

Cost: 1e67 (10 Uvg), 1e8 (100 M) of each Faction Coin

Effect: Grows Drakeling into Dragon.

Note: Do not use Research A25 as it will mess up the timer even worse and could increase the time needed.

Dragon

Description: The drakeling can now breathe fire, but it is not self-sufficient yet. A decent army of Fairy assistants will surely help. Once it is ready, grow your drakeling into a mature dragon.

Requirement: Drakeling, 12 hours since purchasing the previous stage, 3750 Fairy Assistants (Assists from Fairy Chanting count)

Cost: 1e70 (10 Dvg), 1e9 (1 B) of each Faction Coin

Effect: Grows Dragon into Elder Dragon

Elder Dragon

Description: The dragon is now mature and has learned the customs of your realm. The only thing that remains is to feed him with a large amount of magical power... increase your maximum mana. Once it is ready, grow your dragon into an elder dragon.

Requirement: Dragon, 12 hours since purchasing the previous stage, 50000 Max Mana

Cost: 1e73 (10 Tvg), 1e10 (10 B) of each Faction Coin

Effect: Gives Dragon Tamer Trophy

Note: Remaining time until next stage never resets, it persists through Abdications, Reincarnations and Ascensions.

Dragon unlock is an unskippable 2-day-long wait with nothing of significance to do. Thus, it is recommended that you use this time to tier some spells to a higher tier, which in turn drastically saves time on future Tierings in later Reincarnations.

Said spells are: Demon spells (all spells that are visible when you join Demon) and Elf spells, which you'll tier to Tier 3 and Tier 2 respectively according to the optimal Tiering plan at the bottom of the page.

You tier Demon spells because you're already having a 12h headstart from dragon unlock stage 2.

And as for Elf spells, there are two main reasons:

1) You rarely ever want to stop Tiering below Tier 6: Any progress toward the next tier will reset upon reincarnating, so it's really wasteful to reincarnate without tiering all the way to Tier 6. But you only have the time to tier to Tier 2 in R46, so the tiering spell must be one of the lesser used spell, where it doesn't matter whether the spell is Tier 6 or Tier 2.

2) You want to avoid overlapping alignment, to tier as many spells as possible: Obviously you'd avoid an evil faction, you're already Tiering Demon. But you also won't want to Tier with a neutral faction yet. Since neutrals become very powerful after Dragon is unlocked, you should Tier them all the way to Tier 6 instead. So that leaves good factions as the only viable choice.

There is only one faction sastifying both reasons - Elf.

So, for the most efficient use of your time, you should be spending most of your dragon unlock sitting as Demon and Elf as much as possible to build up their spells activity time.

Note: In tiering runs, focus on researches that increase mana regen, increase spells' duration and reduce spells' mana cost.

For Stage 2: You do not need to be Demon in order to finish the stage, use NU Druidline Goblin Build to gain some gems and buy the next stage.

For Stage 3: When nearing the end of the stage (1-2 hours remaining), use NU Druidline Goblin Build to gain up to at least 1e30 (1 No) Gems before finishing the stage with Fairy.

Spell Tier requirement formula (based on spell activity time this R):

Where T is the Spell Tier you're aiming for, U is your additional unlocked tiers from all spells (Tier 1 does not count) and R is your Reincarnation.

Step 1: Start with Goblin until Spiky Rough Egg is excavated, then go to step 2. Switch back to Goblin (or Fairy, for stage 3) for completion when necessary.

Step 2: Run Demon (all spells on autocast) until all of its spells hit Tier 2 (requires 1 day, 10 hours and 21 minutes of spell activity time this R).

Step 3: Run Elf (all spells on autocast) until all of its spells hit at least Tier 2 (requires 20 hours and 13 minutes of spell activity time this R).

Step 4: Run Demon again until all of its spells hit Tier 3 (requires a total of 1 day, 16 hours and 3 minutes of spell activity time this R).

Note: Make sure you have Tier 3 in all Demon spells and Tier 2 in all Elf spells before Reincarnating, or you will lose progress toward these tiers.
